Max Verstappen will be leading the charge for Red Bull again in 2027 after speculation about his future was finally settled.
Verstappen had the option of triggering a release clause as a result of Red Bull's distance from the top of the F1 standings at the sport's brief summer break, but has locked in for a future with the team next season and beyond.
The four-time world champion has signed a contract extension that runs until the end of the 2030 campaign.
"I like it here. I think it would be a great story if that would be possible like that, being picked up by Red Bull and finishing your career within one team," Verstappen told reporters ahead of this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix.

"Because I don't feel the need to change just to change, and I don’t necessarily need to drive in another colour. My favourite colour is blue, so that helps! But, yeah, it would be, of course, an amazing story if that would happen.
"I have the belief in the people, that we can get back to the top, and yeah, time will tell. I mean, that's what we are targeting. I still want to win races, I'm hungry to win more."
Verstappen has been on the F1 grid with Toro Rosso and Red Bull since 2015, and won four world championships back-to-back between 2021 and 2024.
He currently sits in sixth place in the 2026 drivers' standings and is yet to win a Grand Prix. Consecutive podiums in his last two races underpinned his faith in the team, which he says was the only seat he was ever interested in even as the noise around a possible switch ramped up.
Max Verstappen new contract details revealed
The driver's decision to put pen to paper on a new deal must also have been influenced by its contents, and Red Bull have reportedly gone all in to make sure their top star stayed in blue.
According to details shared by F1 finance expert Marc Limacher, Verstappen could become the second-highest salaried sportsperson in the world.
"I hear that Max Verstappen is set to earn an annual salary of 92 million euros starting in 2027 at Red Bull Racing, plus bonuses that will allow him to reach 115 million euros per season," Limacher posted on X.
"That's a total agreement worth 460 million euros."
At 115 million euros, Verstappen would earn more than the reported salaries of Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema and F1 rival Lewis Hamilton, according to Forbes.
Excluding sports where winnings outstrip earnings – boxer Canelo Alvarez will bank a reported 136 million euros this year – that means that only Cristiano Ronaldo's deal at Al-Nassr is more lucrative in 2026 than Verstappen's will be in 2027.
It's nice work if you can get it.
Verstappen will be eager to put on a show at the Dutch GP, his de facto home race.
The 28-year-old won the first three Dutch Grands Prix after its return at Zandvoort in 2021 before finishing second in 2024 and third last year.
F1 is not scheduled to stop off in the Netherlands next season.
