Roger Federer and Andy Murray are among the modern greats of tennis, and they are set to return to the court for a one-off event in December.
The pair have won 23 Grand Slam titles between them, with the Swiss star winning 20 while the Scot lifted three.
Federer hung up his racket professionally in September 2022, while Murray officially retired in August 2024 after being eliminated from the men’s doubles quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics.
One of their closest friends from the ATP circuit is set to follow them out of the sport professionally, with Stan Wawrinka announcing 2026 will be his last year as an active player.

The Swiss star received a wildcard for Wimbledon, giving him the chance to add to his three Grand Slam titles.
Wawrinka is expected to continue playing semi-regularly until the end of the 2026 campaign after his appearance at Wimbledon; however, he has announced a ‘final’ match, and he has roped in Federer, Murray, and Gael Monfils for the event.
The veteran players will play an exhibition event on December 19 at Palexpo in Geneva to celebrate Wawrinka and his incredible career; however, it is unclear how the match will play out, with it potentially being doubles or rotating singles.
In a video posted to his Instagram page, Wawrinka said: “Hello everyone, as you know, 2026 is my final year after more than 20 years on the circuit.
“It’s time for me to bring this chapter to a close. I’ve been lucky over the years to experience so many emotions thanks to tennis, but, above all, thanks to you, and before I go, I wanted to organize one last party to say thank you and goodbye to you all.
For this evening I’m lucky to be able to count on my friends with whom I’ve shared so many wonderful moments over the years: Andy Murray, Gael Monfils, and Roger Federer. I wanted to organize something truly special so that I can enjoy one last time with you all, so see you on the 19th of December, 2026, at Palexpo, Geneva.”
