Jamayne Isaako Will Join Titans After Shock Release From Broncos

Jamayne Isaako Will Join Titans After Shock Release From Broncos

Jamayne Isaako has been granted his immediate release from the Brisbane Broncos in a shock move, joining Gold Coast Titans in the process.

Jamayne Isaako has parted ways with the Brisbane Broncos and is set to join the Gold Coast Titans after being granted a release from the club.

The 25-year-old had already signed on to join a new NRL venture next season, however, he will leave the Broncos immediately.

In a statement, the club said: “The Broncos have granted Jamayne Isaako an immediate release from his contract with the club.”

"The Broncos were happy to facilitate the request and wish Jamayne and his young family all the best in the future, both on and off the field."

Despite signing on with the Dolphins next season, the move had sparked rumours over where Isaako would be headed for the rest of the season, with a potential move to the Paramatta Eels heavily speculated.

However, according to reports from Ben Dobbin of 9News, Isaako was set to join the Gold Coast Titans in order to stay in Queensland.

Titans coach Justin Holbrook confirmed the acquisition, saying: “Jamayne is experienced at NRL level and has played on the international stage.”

“He adds great depth to our outside backs and provides us with coverage across both the fullback and wing positions.

“We’ve got strong competition across a number of positions and adding Jamayne gives us another exciting option to choose from in our backline.

“We had kept a spot on our roster open and we’re thrilled that we are now able to add Jamayne to our team.

“With a number of talented young backline players on our roster, Jamayne will no doubt be able to help with their development during his time with the Titans.”

Isaako won the 2018 Dally M Rookie of the Year in what was a breakout year for the Christchurch born player.

He has played 77 NRL games for the Broncos however, he did not feature in the Round 2 game against the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Tongan fullback Tesi Niu took over the number one jersey from Isaako against Canterbury.
