As per NBC News, the venue, The Rac, stated that the 'unfortunate incident occurred' after a 'recreational shooting on a nearby property'.
It has been suggested that several gunshots were heard, and one of the bullets deflected off a pole and hit the 27-year-old coach in the shoulder.
The report added that the coach is now recovering after being flown to a hospital by the Life Flight air ambulance service.
A video of the incident has since been posted to social media, which showed a number of players warming up before multiple loud pops were heard.
Immediately afterwards, everyone ran off the field and looked for cover, with people shouting 'get down'.
Taking to Facebook, The Rac wrote: "People shoot on their land all the time. At the time we were unaware of anything in season.

A second statement from The Rac added: "The safety and well-being of our players, families, coaches, staff, and community is our top priority.
"We are deeply shaken by what happened, and our focus remains on supporting the coach who was injured, his family, and everyone who was affected."
Meanwhile, 11-year-old Colton Bierman, who was part of a team playing at The Rac on Sunday, said: "I have to legit bear crawl to my mom on my arms."
