An NFL pitch is 120 yards long, so to kick a 70-yard field goal takes some doing. Credit, then, to Cam Little who did just that as the Jacksonville Jaguars took on the Pittsburgh Steelers in pre-season.
While the Jaguars would ultimately fall to 31-25 defeat to the Steelers, Little’s feat deserves immense credit. And the huge field goal gives hope that Harry Kane could make the transition from football to American football when he does hang up his boots.
Kane won’t be calling time on his career anytime soon, the 32-year-old on the cusp of starting his third season at Bayern Munich, but he’s previously talked up the possibility of making the move across the Atlantic to try his luck in the NFL.

Harry Kane to the NFL before long?
When asked two years ago if there was one other sport Kane would have excelled in, the England captain said: “I do love American sports. Maybe I'd have ventured out to America and tried a bit in the NFL.”

Kane went on to add: “I don't think it's having a laugh. I think it’s more just exploring that option.
“I just think I’ve been able to kick in those situations – a lot of pressure situations.
“I know it'd be a lot of hard work and it'd be a lot of dedication. It won't be as easy just rocking up and doing it.”
And when asked if he could move to the USA and pursue a career in American football, Kane said: “Yeah, let's see. I've always said it depends on certain situations and circumstances.”

Kane’s potential future of the NFL was also brought up on the Overlap, where Gary Neville was discussing the England forward and his aspirations to try his luck stateside with J.J. Watt.
Watt retired from NFL in 2022 and is a minority investor in Burnley, who were promoted to the Premier League last season.

JJ Watt talks up Kane's NFL chances
Neville posed the question to Watt on Kane: “Could he get to the level of an NFL kicker?”

To this, Watt replied: “I think with true proper dedicated training.
“I think he could because I think that his skillset having kicked balls for his entire life then you put him with a proper kicking trainer.”
Given Kane’s career stats for both club and country, he has the quality to transition from football to American football when he hangs up his boots.
Kane has scored 62 league goals for Bayern Munich following his arrival from Tottenham in 2023 and he’ll be hoping to follow up last season’s Bundesliga title – the striker’s first major piece of silverware of his career – with further success in the coming campaign.
