American TV host Jimmy Kimmel has offered his take on Donald Trump’s scathing review of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.
On Sunday (February 8), Bad Bunny - real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – became the first Latin American male to headline the Super Bowl halftime show during the interval of the Seattle Seahawks 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
The Puerto Rican, who won Album of the Year at the Grammys earlier in February, performed for a total of 14 minutes with his showing including surprise appearances from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Jessica Alba, Cardi B, Karol G and Pedro Pascal.
The 31-year-old also became the first artist to perform his entire show in Spanish, only uttering the words “God bless America” in English while flags of several nations, including Puerto Rico, Spain, and Colombia, were waved by dancers.

Before the show, there were suggestions that Bad Bunny would use the occasion to protest against ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) in a similar fashion to how he did during his Grammys speech, during which he shouted “ICE out”.
However, there was no direct criticism of ICE or the Trump administration.
But this did not stop the US President from giving a scathing review of the performance, with the 79-year-old claiming it was the “worst ever” when he took to Truth Social.
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” Trump wrote.
“It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A. and all over the World.”
Kimmel has since hit out at the President’s negative review during an appearance on Monday’s (February 9) broadcast of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ with the presenter saying, “This is a man who paid off a porn star who spanked him with his own face on a magazine”.
Kimmel was likely referring to when Trump was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in January 2025.
As reported by BBC News, the charges were related to a cover-up about a hush-money payment to an adult film star ahead of the 2016 US Presidential election.
Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, paid Stormy Daniels a fee of $130,000 to stay hush about an alleged historic sexual encounter.
Trump denied the charges and that the sexual encounter ever took place. He was sentenced to “unconditional discharge” but avoided jail, probation and a fine.
