Piers Morgan has fired back at Donald Trump after he branded Bad Bunny's half-time show at the Super Bowl "the worst ever".

Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, made history as the first male solo Latin star to headline the NFL event in its 60th edition, where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13.

The 31-year-old, who recently won a Grammy for best album, rattled through his hits in Spanish and had Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin join him as special guests at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The sometimes WWE superstar spoke about ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) in his Grammy acceptance speech and in his scintillating Super Bowl showing, he held up a football which had the message, "Together, we are America".

The Puerto Rican, who had Cardi B, Jessica Alba and Pedro Pascal in his 'Casita', also said, "the only thing more powerful than hate is love" and shouted "God Bless America" as he flags of the Americas were proudly displayed at the end.

Having been attendance in New Orleans, President Trump was not present for logistical reasons and instead watched from his Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida.

He branded Bunny and opening ceremony act Green Day a "terrible choice" beforehand and afterwards, took to his Truth Social platform to vent.

The 79-year-old called the dancing on display "disgusting" and called the performance a "slap in the face".

Trump fumed: "The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World."

He added: "This 'Show' is just a 'slap in the face' to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day - including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD."

Morgan is a long-time friend of Trump's and has interviewed him on multiple occasions. However, the former Good Morning Britain host strongly disagreed with Trump and hailed the "great energy" and "superbly confident performance" from Bad Bunny.

"Couldn’t disagree more, Mr President," Morgan said on X.

"I absolutely loved Bad Bunny’s halftime show. Amazing (best in Super Bowl history?) theatre/choreography, great energy, superbly confident performance, and a very welcome unifying message.

"Oh, and Spanish is 1st language for 50m+ Americans!".

He then simply wrote, "Agreed" in response to another tweet which said, "I just genuinely question your taste level if you didn’t enjoy the Bad Bunny halftime show" and that "everything in life doesn’t have to be ruined with politics".

Doubling down in another post, Morgan said the combination of spectacle, theatre and choreography was "best ever" before stating that Michael Jackson and Prince delivered the top two performances in the Super Bowl history.

He stressed that he is still friends with Trump but that he "just disagrees with him about a lot of things ".
