Joe Rogan has advocated for a major change in the UFC product in his latest suggestion to Dana White.
A staunch fan of mixed martial arts, Rogan has been with the UFC since 1997 - starting off by doing backstage interviews before moving into a colour commentary role and providing insight and entertainment on some of the biggest moments in the promotion's history.
That transition happened in 2001 when White took the reigns and became UFC president. According to Rogan, it is written in his contract that if White was to leave, he too would be free to depart the UFC such is the loyal relationship they have.
However, at the same time, Rogan is impartial and has no issues sharing his ideas on what changes can be made to make UFC even better.
In a recent episode of his popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the 58-year-old was joined by Gordon Ryan, Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen for a 'Fight Companion' show reacting to the UFC Fight Night in Paris.

And during the watch-along, after discussing Zhang Weili stepping up to the women’s flyweight division to face Valentina Shevchenko for the women's flyweight title at UFC 322, Rogan stated that UFC should tweak with the weight divisions for the male fighters - believing the jump between classes is too big.
There are a total of eight male weight classes in UFC, starting from flyweight and going right through to heavyweight, where the minimum limit is 205lbs.
While women currently have a 10lbs difference, Rogan is all for the introduction of more classes and a lower difference between each division - which could in turn help with the difficult task of cutting and making weight.
“There should be a weight class every ten pounds for me," he stated.

"Like 185 to 205 is bananas. 20lbs is crazy. “I think that they should have legitimately a weight class every 10lbs in MMA. And I don’t think that’s bad.”

And plenty of fans on social media agreed with Rogan's proposal, which would be on par with the way weight divisions work in boxing - where there a total of 17 different classes.
One on X wrote: "He’s right on that one. 20lbs is too big of gap."

A second said: "More classes would be better. Fighters kill themselves to get to a smaller weight class & do so because everyone else is doing it."
A third agreed, commenting: "True. Thats one thing boxing is great at. Having available weight classes."
A fourth replied: "So true but this should of happened YEARS ago."
White has given his view on weight classes
White does not appear to be onboard, however, as back in March, while promoting his Zuffa boxing league which is backed Turki Alalshikh, he expressed frustration at the amount of weight divisions in boxing.

Speaking on the Fight Freaks Unite podcast, White said: "“I’m not working with them, okay? And doing less weight classes, you know, not three f***ing weight classes in one weight class.
"Like the featherweight divisions are one twenty-six pounds, right? Now, stay the same, ten rounds, twelve rounds, all that stuff, stay the same. I want the best guys that I have in the organisation, fighting the best till they get up. When guys get up into the top five, there’s no question to the top five best guys are in the weight class,”
