UFC Legend in Dana White’s 'Mount Rushmore' Teases Shock Comeback

An MMA icon could be set for a return to UFC

A UFC legend that Dana White named in his 'Mount Rushmore' of greatest fighters has teased a shock return to the sport.

Back in 2023, UFC president White joined legendary boxer Mike Tyson and DJ Whoo Kid to discuss the most legendary UFC fighters in history.

Although White was asked to name just four, he instead listed seven fighters.

He began with Jon Jones, before naming Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes.

White rounded off his list with Kamaru Usman, Chuck Liddell, Royce Gracie and Matt Hughes.

That meant there was no space for some of the sport's most famous figures, notably Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Now, Rousey could be set for a return to MMA.

The former bantamweight champion has not fought since 2016, when she was knocked out in just 48 seconds by Nunes.

Last year, she explained that concussions had forced her to step away from the sport.

She said: "I'd like people to understand my reasons and motivations behind things.

"I was forced to leave fighting when I was faster, stronger, more skilled and had a better understanding of the art than ever before.

"It was a really hard decision to understand, one that my body made for me."

But Rousey appears to have had a change of heart, inspired by Tyson's return to boxing.

'Iron Mike' retired in 2005, but came out of retirement in November 2024 to fight YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul.

Although Tyson lost by unanimous decision, the fight was a huge commercial success, with Netflix reporting 60 million households worldwide tuned in for the fight.

On The Breakfast Club, Rousey said: “Mike Tyson coming back and having the biggest fight last year, it just kind of proves that I don’t think anyone’s ever really done.

“With Mike Tyson, you can never say never now. Holy s**t.

“He got $20 million. Baddest man on the planet. 108 million views.

"Comment whatever you want, that’s the most-watched fight of all time, and he was almost 60. That’s how much his legacy means. How much his name means.

“That was really inspiring to me personally to see him do that.”

White recently confirmed that he had recently met with Rousey, but did not reveal whether she was set for a UFC return.

“Yeah, her and I are still very close, and we talk, I would say we probably talk once every three months or something like that,” White said earlier this month.

“She was in Vegas recently, and she came by the offices, but yeah, I don’t know what her plans are.

"I think she’s just training again. She just had two babies, and she’s in a whole other place in her life.

“But, I will say this, she’s just had another baby and she’s in great shape right now, she’s frigging ripped like she used to be, so I don’t know.”
