Jon Jones Speaks Out for the First Time Since Brother's Sudden Death

The former UFC star's brother, Arthur, died at his New York home on Friday, 3 October.

Jon Jones has taken to Instagram for the first time since the sudden death of his older brother Arthur.

Arthur, who was 39, died at his New York home after his pacemaker went off, sending a signal to his doctor, as per the Independent.

The former NFL star had a pre-existing heart condition and had already died by the time emergency services arrived, according to News Channel 9 reporter Steve Infanti.

The 39-year-old was a defensive lineman and spent his first four NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he won the 2012 Super Bowl.

In 2013, he left the Ravens before penning a lucrative five-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts in March 2014. He spent two years with the side before joining the Washington Redskins – now Washington Commanders -in 2017.

The 39-year-old was one of four children, including former light heavyweight and heavyweight UFC champion Jon, as well as Chandler, who competed in the NFL for the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders.

The trio of brothers also had a younger sister, Carmen, who died of a brain tumour before she was 18.

Since Arthur’s ill-timed passing, Jon has posted details of his funeral on social media and asked that “those who knew and loved Arthur join us in paying their respects. Out of respect for our family’s privacy during this difficult time, we ask that attendance be limited to close friends, family, and those who shared a meaningful connection with Arthur”, during an X post on October 7.

Then, on October 11, Jon posted several photographs of himself at an American Football stadium with his nephew Arthur IV – Arthur’s 15-year-old son - accompanied by the caption: “Congratulations to my nephew Arthur Ⅳ and the team! Wishing y’all the best as you chase that state championship! Stay focused, stay humble, and finish strong.”

As reported by The Playoffs, Arthur IV is a keen footballer and plays as a sophomore defensive lineman for the Christian Brother Academy (CBA) in Syracuse.

CBA secured a 28-21 win against Shaker High School as Jon watched from the stands.
