Conor McGregor reveals exact amount he's made from betting this year after losing $500,000 on UFC 308

The Notorious bet half a million dollars on two bouts at UFC 308 including backing Max Holloway and Robert Whittaker.

Conor McGregor may well have ended up losing an eye watering $500,000 after a bet on two fights at UFC 308 did not come off, but he is still up by quite a sum of money following a successful gambling spell this year.

The Notorious has not fought in the UFC since 2021 after a planned comeback to the Octagon earlier this year at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler was cancelled following McGregor suffering a broken toe.

His MMA record stands at 22 wins from 28 bouts, which includes 19 wins by knockout, one by submission and two via decisions.

Of his six losses, four have come through submission, while two have been knockouts at the hands of Dustin Poirier.

Since McGregor's last UFC bout, the 36-year-old has made his Hollywood debut, having appeared alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in 2022 in a remake of the 1989 movie Road House, which originally starred the late Patrick Swayze.

McGregor has in 2024 made a series of bets on sporting events throughout the year, and even made a $500,000 stake on two bouts at UFC 308 last night in Abu Dhabi.

The main event of the night were the mouth-watering clashes between Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway, as well as co-main event Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev.

McGregor backed Holloway and Whittaker to win by knockout, but the bet did not come off as both fighters ended up losing their respective bouts.

Despite losing quite a sum of money with the failed bet, McGregor has taken to social media to reveal the amount he has made through gambling in 2024, and he is still well up by some margin.

He has made approaching $8m so far this year after betting on a range of sports, including football where he backed Spain to win the European Championships and Argentina in the Copa America, as well as UFC bouts including backing old rival Nate Diaz and backing Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.

Though he has had success, McGregor admits there are risks to gambling as he advocated those who do it to do so responsibly, adding that he is playing with his profits which explains why he is making risky bets like he did last night at UFC 308, as well as betting more frequently.

In a now deleted post, he wrote: "I am up $7.7 million in gambling profits this year. Spain to win the Euros, $1.1m win.

"Diaz to win, $1.6m. Argentina to win Copa America, $1m win. Spain, Carlos Alcaraz, Argentina treble on the day of the games, 100k bet won me 4mill win.

"I lost golden boot 63k in Euros, I lost Ferreira last week 500k and 500k tonight.

"$1.63m losses, 7.7m wins. $6m+ I am up. October now. Rocking nicely!

"Gambling is for sure risky. Gamble responsibly. I am playing on profits which is why I am taking risks, as well as playing more frequently. Gamble responsibly."
