The PGA have issued a statement confirming Tiger Woods will not be captain of the US Ryder Cup team as he takes a break to focus on his health and well-being.
Woods, who has won 15 majors in a decorated golf career, was involved in a car crash involving two drivers in Florida last week.
According to Martin County Police, Woods was travelling at a "high rate of speed" and clipped a truck with his Land Rover while trying to overtake.
The 50-year-old was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit a lawful test.

Sheriff John Budensiek claimed he returned "triple zeros" on the breathalyser test. However, he refused to undergo a urinalysis test for other drugs but later admitted to taking "quite a few" prescription pills.
After an eight-hour stay in jail, he was released on bond. He also pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Having recently returned to golf in the form of the indoor 'Tomorrow's Golf League', Woods was set to return and compete in the Masters after an extended period without competing for a major.
He was also slated to captain the US at the Ryder Cup in 2027 but the PGA have confirmed Woods asked to step down from captain duties. The organisation said they "support his decision".
"The PGA of America stands in full support of Tiger Woods as he steps away to focus on his health and well-being," the statement shared on social media read.
During this time, we are keeping Tiger in our thoughts and prayers, with sincere hope for his strength, comfort, and recovery. Tiger has meant so much to our Association and to the game of golf.
"Since his Ryder Cup debut in 1997, he has been an enduring part of the PGA of America family.
"His connection to our PGA of America Golf Professionals, and his lasting impact on the sport, have inspired generations and profoundly shaped the game. We commend Tiger for prioritizing his long-term health and deeply respect the courage it takes to make such a personal decision.
"Tiger has shared with us that he will not serve as Captain of the 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup Team and we support his decision. The PGA of America will share further updates regarding the Ryder Cup Captaincy when appropriate."
It was also recently confirmed that Woods would not be present at Augusta for the Masters, with Fred Ridley saying they "fully support" Woods "as he focuses on his well-being".
Woods himself broke his silence on his arrest and confirmed he would be stepping away from the sport for an indefinite period to "seek treatment" and "work towards lasting recovery".
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today," he wrote on X.
“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritise my wellbeing and work towards lasting recovery.”
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally.
“I appreciate your understanding and support and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
Woods has won the Masters five times. He has never been the captain for the US at the Ryder Cup, instead serving as vice-captain on multiple occasions.
