Mary Earps has cemented her place in English footballing history after an inspired performance in the World Cup final.

Unfortunately for the Lionesses, their journey to World Cup glory ended in heartbreak as they were beaten 1-0 by Spain in Sydney.

However, Earps produced some magical saves and picked up the Golden Glove for keeping the most clean sheets throughout the tournament.

But it was her reaction to saving Jenifer Hermaso's penalty that put a smile on supporters' faces. The 30-year-old had done her homework and guessed the right way to deny Spain a second goal, before leaping to her feet and waving her teammates on with some choice language.
