West Ham's stance on the immediate future of Nuno Espirito Santo has emerged following the club's disastrous 3-0 defeat to rock-bottom Wolves.
Espirito Santo, who joined the Hammers in September – just 18 days after being sacked by Nottingham Forest – is under growing pressure having won just two of his 15 games in charge.
The defeat to previously winless Wolves on Saturday, which saw them concede three times before half-time, only intensified rumours surrounding his future as the club sit 18th in the Premier League, four points from safety.
Speaking in his post-match interview at Molineux, Espirito Santo pulled no punches. “I have to apologise to the fans, I have to apologise. We have to apologise to the fans, those that travelled today, it was embarrassing," he said.

Given how poorly they played against arguably one of the worst sides in Premier League history, talk around whether Espirito Santo will see Tuesday's game against Nottingham Forest has been rife.

Last week, it was suggested that the club could turn to former manager Slaven Bilic if they decided to relieve Espirito Santo of his duties.
However, West Ham have no immediate plans to sack the Portuguese coach, according to The Athletic.
In fact, it is said West Ham’s board are planning to back Espirito Santo in the January transfer window, with Lazio forward Taty Castellanos close to completing a £26.1 million move to the London Stadium.
The news comes just days after the club announced the signing of Brazilian striker Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente. This season, the 22-year-old has scored 10 goals in 13 Primeira Liga appearances.

Espirito Santo decision comes just days after managerial candidate was reported
As mentioned above, Slaven Bilic has been linked with a potential return to West Ham.
He led the Hammers to seventh place in the Premier League in 2016, accumulating the club's highest number of points and highest number of goals scored in a Premier League season.
Back in November, the Croatian told talkSPORT he was "close" to taking the reins at West Ham for a second time before Espirito Santo got the job.
Bilic's last management job saw him coach Al Fateh in Saudi Arabia, leaving the club in 2024.
