Nemanja Vidic has revealed the hilarious details of his very first meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson following his move to Manchester United.

The legendary Serbian defender signed for Man United for a fee around £7 million in December 2005 before completing his switch from Spartak Moscow during the January transfer window in 2006.

He went onto enjoy a trophy-laden eight-and-a-half-year spell at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League title an impressive five times not to mention the Champions League.

On an individual note, he won the Premier League Player of the Year season award on TWO occasions, cementing his status as one of the greatest centre-backs to play in England's top-flight.

He recently sat down with his old defensive partner Rio Ferdinand on his podcast, where he touched on several topics, including his first meeting with iconic Man United boss.

Vidic brilliantly recalled how Ferguson carried his bags when he arrived to sign for the Red Devils, then claimed he agreed a deal which was less than what he was earning at Spartak before bursting out laughing.

The bruising centre-back then claimed his move to Old Trafford was more than just about money.

"Sir Alex Ferguson was waiting. Whole trip he was there," he said to Ferdinand as he remembered his interaction with Ferguson. "First we went to the hotel to see the players. If you remember I was there when I had a dinner?

"I was sitting with Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha on the table. And after that, Fergie took us to the hotel. Other hotel, we didn't stay in the same hotel. He took us to the other hotel, and he was actually taking my bag for me. I said 'wow'.

Taking the bags for me and putting in the back. I'm saying this is amazing. This is the story I have to say to the guys, you know?"

Vidic continued: "And then tomorrow he took us to the airport and same again, putting back bags. Taking us to the airport.

"And I was on the airplane, I was looking through the window and say 'wow man. I'm going to play for Man United'.

"I was thinking about Fergie taking the bags in the back. In that moment I was thinking, 'wow I signed for less money actually than I had at Spartak Moscow than Man United'."
