Victoria Beckham's friends hit back after Rio Ferdinand claims he'd never seen her eat

Victoria Beckham's friends hit back after Rio Ferdinand claims he'd never seen her eat

Ferdinand discussed his relationship with David and Victoria Beckham earlier this week.

Friends of Victoria Beckham have hit back at Rio Ferdinand, after he claimed that he'd never seen the former Spice Girls star eat.

The conversation comes after former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand - who played alongside Victoria's husband David for both club and country - spoke of his close relationship with the duo.

Whilst speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O show, Ferdinand stated that he has 'never seen her eat anything' after host Jackie Henderson quizzed Ferdinand on the diet of the former Spice Girls star:

"I've never seen her eat anything. I don't remember anything that sticks out of my memory, to be honest."

Friends of the 48-year-old have leapt to her defence, telling the Sun that Ferdinand's suggestions are "a load of nonsense"

"Victoria has spoken a lot about what she eats and to say she doesn’t is a load of nonsense.

"Why people are interested in what she eats is bizarre. Victoria has made no secret of the food she enjoys and doesn’t make an issue of it – so why people comment on it is baffling."

Ferdinand's comments drew heavy criticism on social media, as the public questioned the need to make comments on a potentially sensitive, personal topic.

The former England international responded by asking people to acknowledge the context of his comments, declaring that his comments were regarding the fact that he'd never sat with Victoria and eaten, as opposed to never seeing her eat anything during a meal.

Ferdinand was in conversation with the Australian duo as he looks to promote the new social media app 'WeAre8', a new social media app with a 'zero-hate' policy which aims to eliminate harmful comments and messages online.

The 44-year-old gave his backing to the app after he revealed that he has banned his four children from using TikTok and Snapchat after witnessing the torrid racial abuse aimed at Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho following England's penalty shootout defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final.

The interview also featured a conversation about Ferdinand's former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who he claims to have 'almost reduced to tears' after hammering the teenage sensation at table tennis during United training sessions.
