Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Manchester United sign a player who would completely transform their side next season.
United have secured Champions League football for next season under the interim management of Michael Carrick.
They have reportedly reached a 'broad agreement' for Carrick to take the job on a permanent basis on a two-year contract.
The 44-year-old has won 10 out of his 15 matches in charge, and a permanent role would allow him to shape the squad as he sees fit this summer in what will be his first full transfer window at Old Trafford.

One area in which United do not have significant depth is in the striker position, with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha deployed out wide in Carrick's system and doubts over the future of Joshua Zirkzee.
Benjamin Sesko has netted 12 Premier League goals in what is turning out to be a successful first season at Old Trafford following his £75 million summer move from RB Leipzig.
On Saturday morning, Barcelona announced that Robert Lewandowski will leave the club at the end of the season following the expiry of his contract.
The 37-year-old has never played in the Premier League, having come closest in 2010 when he infamously agreed a move to Blackburn Rovers only to be prevented from flying to England due to volcanic ash clouds caused by Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland.
Six months later, Lewandowski would leave Lech Poznan to join Borussia Dortmund, before a move to Bayern Munich four years later.
But Ferdinand has suggested he would be an ideal player to add to United's attack.
The former Manchester United defender wrote: "What a guy, what a player!!
"Experienced option next season in UCL & help with development of Sesko?"

Which club could Lewandowski sign for?
The reality appears to be that Lewandowski will not be ending his illustrious playing career in the Premier League.
It was reported earlier this week that the Pole had received an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal worth a staggering €90 million per season and was considering whether to accept it.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) have adjusted their strategic plans in recent months and sold their majority stake in Al Hilal last month, but its top flight clubs are still expected to spend big this summer and PIF retain majority stakes in four other clubs.
Lewandowski was also linked with a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) earlier this year.
Lewandowski addressed his impending Barcelona departure, after four years at the club, on his Instagram page, though declined to comment on speculation surrounding which club he will sign for next.
"After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to move on," he wrote.
"I leave with the feelign that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships.
"I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth.
"Thank you to everyone I met along the way during these beautiful four years.
"A special thank you to President Laporta for giving me the chance to live the most incredible chapter of my career.
"Barca is back where it belongs. Visca el Barca. Visca Catalunya."
