Ruben Amorim has 'already decided' to axe Man Utd star in January after just two games in charge

Amorim is already making decisions over his Man Utd squad.

New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has already decided to sell one player after just two games in charge, it is reported.

Amorim has been in the dugout for the 1-1 draw against Ipswich in the Premier League and Thursday's 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

While there have clearly been areas for improvement, the Portuguese boss has praised the work ethic of his team and says they are 'trying really hard' to implement his ideas.

The likes of Amad Diallo, Noussair Mazraoui and Rasmus Hojlund have produced exceptional displays since Amorim's arrival, though the 39-year-old may have to largely make do with what he has until the end of the season.

The Athletic reported in October that United were close to the limit on FFP following the sacking of Erik ten Hag and the appointment of the former Sporting Lisbon manager Amorim.

That means the new boss may have to raise funds by sanctioning player sales - and it is claimed that he has already made a decision over one player's future.

According to Sky Sports Germany, United will not offer a new contract to midfielder Christian Eriksen ahead of his current deal expiring in the summer.

It is claimed that the club will explore selling him early in January to gain a small transfer fee, with Scottish champions Celtic believed to be interested.

Brendan Rodgers' side are playing Champions League football this season and will be still be in the competition in late January, when the group stage ends. Their campaign will extend into February if they qualify for the play-off round.

One issue relating to a potential sale of the 32-year-old, however, is his current wage.

It is claimed that he is on £150,000-per-week, which is four times more than what Celtic's highest earner Callum McGregor is paid, as per SalarySport.

A potential loan move could be arranged in a deal that would see United subsidise some of that wage.

Premier League clubs cannot loan in players that will see their contract expire at the end of that current season, but the situation is different in Scotland with player contracts traditionally expiring on May 31, instead of June 30.
