Real Madrid have already made profit on their signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold following their recent wins in the Club World Cup.

Just weeks after the end of the 2024/25 season, the exciting new Club World Cup competition got underway across various venues in the United States of America.

A total of 32 football clubs from across the world took part in the group stage of the competition, including La Liga giants Real Madrid, who have used the competition to show off new signings Alexander-Arnold and Dean Hujsen.

Following their convincing win over Red Bull Salzburg on Friday morning, Spanish side booked their place in the knockout stages, where they will face Serie A club Juventus.

Despite impressing in Friday's match against Salzburg, it's safe to say that Alexander-Arnold has had a rocky start to life at Real Madrid, as he struggled against both Al Hilal and Pachuca.

But Xabi Alonso won't be concerned, as the right back undoubtedly played a role in his side's success, helping them secure significant value in his transfer.

Real Madrid reportedly earned €38M (£32.4m) for participating in the Club World Cup, taking home an additional €6M (£5.11m) for their two group stage wins and another €7.5m (£6.4m) for progressing to the round of 16.

This means that in total, Real Madrid have made £43.9m for playing in the club world cup, representing massive £33.9m profit on the signing of Alexander-Arnold, having agreed to pay Liverpool £10million to secure his signature early ahead of his contract expiring at the end of June.

Real Madrid paid £50m for Spanish centre back Huijsen in May having triggered the release clause included in his Bournemouth contract.

The 15-time Champions League winners have also spent a reported £54m for River Plate youngster Franco Mastantuono, who is set to join the club in August following his 18th birthday.

With each of those transfers in mind, it takes Real Madrid's total net spend for the summer to -£70.1m, a number which will undoubtedly change as they progress further in the Club World Cup.
