Newcastle could suffer new transfer window blow on top of Alexander Isak saga

Newcastle face a fresh transfer situation amid the Alexander Isak saga.

Newcastle United face a fresh transfer setback as Alexander Isak's future continues to rumble on this summer.

The Isak transfer saga has dominated this summer's window as he hopes to secure a stunning move to Liverpool, who remain in the market for new talent.

The star forward has gone on strike and sat out his side's Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Anthony Gordon played as a No.9 at Villa Park and he influenced the game down the middle, getting Ezri Konsa sent off in their goalless draw against Villa.

Gordon spoke to TNT Sports after his role as a striker, with Newcastle fans interrupting his post-match interview as they came up with a derogatory chant about the Swede.

Eddie Howe also spoke after the result as he hopes the Isak situation gets 'resolved quickly'.

"I hope it’s resolved quickly, because it’s news around us all the time," he said. "Players have managed to shut that out and perform. We have to continue to do that."

Clubs in England have until September 1 to finalise their business before the window slams shut.

And Isak isn't the only Newcastle player being linked with a move away from St. James' Park.

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Tino Livramento as they look for a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker, who officially departed the Etihad this summer, having spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan.

A move for Livramento could be accelerated if they sell Rico Lewis, who is wanted by Nottingham Forest.

According to The Daily Mail, Forest have set their sights on Lewis, having agreed a deal to sign fellow Man City academy graduate James McAtee.

If Man City sanction the sale of Lewis, then they will likely enter the market for a replacement.

And they could test Newcastle's resolve for Livramento should Lewis depart for the City Ground.

Per a report from The Times last month, Man City are prepared to pay £65 million to lure the 22-year-old away from Newcastle, who plan to offer him a new deal to fend off interest.

So, Newcastle could lose both Isak and Livramento before the transfer window closes in what would be a major blow to Eddie Howe and the club.
