Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly keen to offload two Manchester United stars who are on ‘inflated contracts’.

Back in February, it was finally confirmed that Ratcliffe and his INEOS team had become minority owners at United.

A statement which was posted on the club’s official website said: “Manchester United plc (NYSE: MANU), and Trawlers Limited, an entity wholly-owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are pleased to confirm that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has completed his acquisition of 25% of the club’s Class B shares and 25% of the club’s Class A shares, following the satisfaction of all conditions, including approvals from the Football Association and the Premier League.”

Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are set to control the footballing matters of the club, with the Glazers heading up the commercial side.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it has been reported that Ratcliffe and his team are looking to offload a few players to reduce the club’s wage bill.

As reported by iNews, the INEOS team are keen to offload players that they feel are on ‘inflated contracts’, such as Brazilian midfielder Casemiro and French defender Raphael Varane.

Former Real Madrid man Varane is likely to be released in the summer when his contract comes to an end.

Meanwhile, Casemiro has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with clubs in Saudi Arabia said to be interested in the 32-year-old.

United have had a difficult season under Erik ten Hag as they have struggled to perform to the expected level.

Currently, the Red Devils are unlikely to take part in next season’s Champions League as they sit sixth in the Premier League table.

On Saturday, a section of fans booed the team at the final whistle after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Old Trafford.

Speaking after the match, Ten Hag said: “Every team gives up opportunities. But, when it is up to us, it is weird. We created loads of chances as well.

“We are one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in the league at this moment. We are creating loads of chances by playing good football. It was unnecessary to lose control. We repaired this at half-time and second half was much better.”
