Liverpool could switch their attention to a potential swap deal after missing out on Antoine Semenyo.
Bournemouth star Semenyo, 25, has long been linked with a move away from the Vitality Stadium.
It has been previously claimed that the Ghanaian has a £65 million release clause, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all interested.
However, in recent days, it was reported that Semenyo prefers a move to City, with a move now expected to happen in the early stages of the winter transfer window.

With Liverpool set to lose out on Semenyo, they have now been linked with a potential swap deal involving Federico Chiesa.
Over the last few months, Chiesa has been linked with a move away from Anfield after failing to win over Arne Slot.
The Italian started his first Premier League match of the season last weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but was brought off with 61 minutes on the clock.
With the January transfer window on the horizon, Chiesa has been linked with a move back to Serie A.

According to Gazzetta, Chiesa has attracted interest from Juventus, who could offer the Italian a loan move to Turin.
Chiesa has scored two goals for Liverpool this season, having netted against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace. The Italian has also provided three assists.
Meanwhile, it was claimed by TuttoSport, via Sport Witness, that Liverpool are targeting Juventus star Kenan Yildiz, who has also been linked with Arsenal.
It has been claimed that in a bid to fend off the Premier League clubs, Juventus are ready to hand Yildiz a new and improved contract. With Juve's apparent interest in Chiesa, Liverpool could use the winger as an option to lure the Turin giants into selling Yildiz.

The 20-year-old has so far registered six goals and six assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.
It has been mentioned that Liverpool could bring in Yildiz as a possible long-term replacement for talisman Mohamed Salah, who is currently on AFCON duty with Egypt.
Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Thursday afternoon when they take on Leeds United at Anfield.
