Antoine Semenyo has already dropped a hint over his dream transfer amid reports he has already politely turned down a move.

Semenyo has emerged as one of the most exciting and sought-after talents in the Premier League, scoring eight goals and registering three assists for Bournemouth in 16 appearances.

Only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago have scored more than Semenyo in the top flight and the Ghana international is attracting strong interest from a number of leading clubs.

Semenyo's situation is certainly one to keep an eye on in the January transfer window, with The Athletic's football correspondent David Ornstein sharing the latest information.

Speaking on NBC Sports, Ornstein said that "this is going to be one of the biggest stories of the January transfer window" and added that he "would suspect this resolved sooner rather than later".

However, one move has already been ruled out as Semenyo has rejected the advances of Spurs as he would prefer Manchester City or Manchester United, who are also both credited with strong interest.

Ornstein explained: "Tottenham Hotspur were very keen, and I’m led to believe we’re prepared to pay a significant salary to Antoine Semenyo, but he politely is focusing on other options, namely, it seems City or United, and he will have to make a decision around that."

It has been reported that Liverpool had an enquiry about Semenyo in November, having seen his qualities up close when he scored a brace at Anfield in the opening game of the season.

The "significant" injury to record £125 million signing Alexander Isak could prompt them to launch a move.

”Liverpool is said to have had great admiration for him," Ornstein added.

"They haven’t moved to the same extent so far, to my knowledge.

“But let’s see if anything changes around the Alexander Isak injury, because we’ve just broken the news that Liverpool fear that it is a significant injury to his lower left leg.”

Semenyo's dream club transfer hint

It has been reported that Semenyo, who can play centrally or on either flank, has a £65 million release clause in his contract.

And another club not initially mentioned in reports are said to have joined the race. On Tuesday, Sky Sports reported that Chelsea have entered the race to sign for the 25-year-old and have followed up their interest by making an enquiry.

It turns out that Semenyo appears to have a soft spot for the Blues. The former Bristol City forward recently took part in a 'Shirt Shopping' video at Classic Football Shirts and proudly sported a Chelsea shirt with Didier Drogba on the back and later purchased the jersey.

He also appeared to say "we" when discussing the Blues' Champions League triumph in 2012.

"I was looking at the Champions League badge," he said.

"It reminds me of that goal we scored against Bayern. It's perfect. One day, hopefully".

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea previously played down interest in Semenyo but have now performed a u-turn by making an initial enquiry with his representatives - with David Ornstein of The Athletic concurring that the two-time Champions League winners have had a change of plan.

They will now look to accelerate a January deal when they had previously been content with going in for him in the summer.

City and United are both believed to be leading the race to sign Semenyo.
