Liverpool fans convinced new signing is joining after spotting 'clue' in Christmas post

Liverpool fans convinced new signing is joining after spotting 'clue' in Christmas post

Liverpool fans are adamant the club will be busy during the January transfer window

Liverpool fans are convinced the club will make a new signing during the January transfer window.

The winter transfer window is fast approaching and fans across the country will be longing for their clubs to bring in some new faces.

For Liverpool, many feel they need to add to their squad if they are to mount a sustained challenge for the Premier League title.

This is due to the injuries they have suffered in defence and the fact that they will lose talisman Mohamed Salah for as long as a month due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

On Christmas Day, Liverpool’s official social media account posted a picture of captain Virgil van Dijk and forward Cody Gakpo in front of a Christmas tree.

The picture has made fans believe that the club could be hinting at a new signing during the January transfer window.

When Van Dijk and Gakpo were announced as Liverpool players, they both took a picture in front of a Christmas tree.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Is this a January hint?”

Another tweeted: “This is a teaser for a new signing I just know, 2 Dutchmen we announced in front of a Christmas tree, it just is.”

A third fan added: “Another Christmas signing Incoming Probably Goncalo Inacio.”

Someone else wrote: “2 Dutch players in this picture. Could this be a hint for Jeremie Frimpong or Mats Weiffer incoming in January?”

Earlier in the month, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp spoke about the transfer window after defender Joel Matip suffered an ACL injury.

He said: “You always talk about transfers like it is the easiest thing in the world. They all cost money, it must be the right player. We still have four centre-backs. Tell me a club which wants to sell a top, top centre-half. Tell me one.

“As long as other clubs don't put them under the Christmas tree for us and say, 'Take it and use it for as long as you need it'... I didn't really think about it yet because it was only five days since we had that problem. I don't think so, to be honest.”
