Man City Drastically Lower Jack Grealish's Price Tag Despite £50m Everton Option

Jack Grealish could be available for a lot less than his £50 million option that is in his Everton loan deal.

Everton agreed a season-long loan with Manchester City to sign Grealish last summer.

The deal includes an option to make the move a permanent transfer for £50 million - half of what Man City paid to bring him to the Etihad in the summer of 2021.

But Everton could find themselves in a scenario where they could sign the 30-year-old for a significantly smaller fee.

According to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, there isn't any possibility Everton would pay Grealish's option-to-buy clause.

Borson has explained how David Moyes could secure Grealish's services on a permanent basis for just £20 million.

"I can’t see that there’ll be a huge bidding war for the player," Borson told Football Insider.

He added: "I think he’s happy at Everton. I think Everton should be able to get him for about £20m max.

"I think if City can get themselves out of the deal in the final year for what his amortised value is, which is probably about £20m by the time you get to the summer, I think City will take that, or even a small loss and get him off the wage bill.

"He can get on with his career at Everton and that’s that. I don’t see that there’s any realistic prospects of him going back to City, and I don’t think that it’s likely that he’s going to go anywhere else, so that just seems to make sense."

Grealish, who cost Man City £100 million, is contracted with the Blues until June 2027.

As Borson suggests, they could look to offload the star player for a cut-price fee before his existing deal runs out, which would avoid a free transfer situation.

Grealish made 157 appearances and scored 17 goals in four seasons at Man City following his switch from Aston Villa.

He helped his parent club to the treble in the 2022/23 campaign.

At the time of writing, Grealish has played 18 games across all competitions for Everton this season.
