David Beckham ‘told’ Harry Kane to move to Bayern Munich as striker looks to inspire other English players

Harry Kane is thriving in Munich.

David Beckham inspired Harry Kane to move to Bayern Munich this summer, the England striker admitted.

Kane has seamlessly taken to life in Germany, scoring twice on his Bundesliga debut for Bayern on Sunday as the reigning champions continued their winning start to the league season.

Kane became the first English player to score in his first two Bundesliga games when he netted a penalty before half-time, before wrapping up the 3-1 win with a neat dinked finish.

In a social media post after the encounter, Kane said: "Great game today. To score two goals in front of you fans was a special feeling.

"Lots of improvement still to come but to start the season with two wins is a really great start, so thanks for the support as always.

"You know [I] appreciate every single one of you there in the stadium singing my name, so look forward to next week now, recover well and let's keep it going."

Kane completed his £100million move to Bayern Munich from Tottenham earlier this month, ending his nearly two-decade association with the north London side in the process.

And the England captain explained that Beckham, who made his own high-profile move from Manchester United to Real Madrid two decades earlier, had inspired him to opt to play abroad.

Speaking to Bild via Marca, Kane said: “Maybe my journey here can be an inspiration for the younger English players to do the same and take that step.

“I remember David Beckham making the move from Manchester United to Real Madrid. I was a kid and I was like, 'Wow, what an amazing experience.'”

Kane’s wife Katie gave birth to the couple’s fourth child this week, while her husband became only the third Bayern player to score three times in his first two league games and the first since Adolfo Valencia in 1993.

The striker also netted on his Bayern league debut last weekend, while also claiming an assist for Leroy Sane.
