Former Manchester United midfielder Fred could make a shock return to the Premier League as one club have registered their interest.

Five years after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in a £47million deal, Fred left United in the summer of 2023 to join Turkish side Fenerbahce for a reported fee of £8.62m, with an additional £4.31m in potential add-ons.

Since then, the Brazilian has made 80 appearances for his new club, and has been enjoying life under former United manager Jose Mourinho after the Premier League legend replaced Ismail Kartal in the dugout in June last year.

However, it appears that Fred's time playing for the Turkish giants could be coming to an end, with reports suggesting that Mourinho has decided to list him for sale to make way for a series of new signings.

And if he is to leave Fenerbahce this summer, then a return to England could be on the cards, as a Premier League club is believed to be considering submitting a bid.

According to a report from Turkish outlet Sozcu Spor, via the Daily Mail, Fenerbahce would be willing to let Fred go for as little as £15m this summer.

Such a low price, is said to have attracted the interest of Everton, who are looking to bolster their squad after an impressive season that saw them finish 13th in the Premier League table following the return of manager David Moyes.

The report claims that, ahead of their first match in their new Hill Dickinson Stadium, club officials are prepared to back Moyes, who views Fred as a priority signing.

As it stands, Fred's contract with Fenerbahce is set to expire in 2027, meaning that Everton will have to begin negotiations if they hope to secure a deal over the summer.

In order to do so, it appears that the Toffees are willing to let star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave the club in the coming weeks after failing to agree on terms of a new contract.

It was initially believed that Everton hoped to keep the 28-year-old at the club, but it has now been reported that he is eyeing up a move abroad, with Italy his preferred option.
