Manchester United legend David de Gea could be set to make a huge move in the summer after returning to the pitch with Fiorentina this season.

After 12 years and over 500 appearances playing for United, De Gea left Old Trafford in July 2023, with Erik ten Hag allowing him to leave as a free agent while deciding to sign current keeper Andre Onana.

Although he is believed to have had offers from several clubs the Spaniard decided to spend a year away from the sport before eventually joining Serie A side Fiorentina on a one year deal ahead of the 2024/25 season.

But now it appears that the 34-year-old could be on the move again, as a report from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has named the two clubs that have listed De Gea as their top transfer target in the summer window.

In a post on X, Romano confirmed that Ligue 1 club AS Monaco have De Gea on their shortlist of top targets as they look to sign a new goalkeeper ahead of next season.

The Moneasque club finished third in the French league this season, therefore qualifying for next season's Champions League alongside Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain.

But, after unconvincing seasons from both Philipp Kohn and Radoslaw Majecki, the club's current keepers, Club CEO Thiago Scuro confirmed that they would be looking for a new goalkeeper in the summer.

But Monaco are not the only club looking to sign De Gea, as Romano confirmed that Fiorentina are also interested in convincing the Spaniard to committing his future to the club.

The transfer expert has claimed that the Italian club have been so impressed by his performances this season, that they are willing to extend his contract until June 2028, and view his signing as a top priority.

De Gea made 42 appearances for Fiorentina this season, keeping 11 clean sheets in 35 Serie A appearances.

According to Capology, he is currently earning a weekly salary of €42,692 (£35,800), but it's likely he will receive a pay increase should he decide to pen a new deal with the Italian club.
