Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign a star player for a problem position and it could be bad news for Manchester United.

Chelsea have been linked with several players this summer, having snapped up Liam Delap from Ipswich Town ahead of the Club World Cup.

Alejandro Garnacho is a name that has been bandied about as his future appears to lie away from Old Trafford.

Enzo Maresca is on the hunt for wingers, with the club opting against signing Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal following his loan spell last season, while Mykhailo Mudryk is expected to serve a ban after being charged by the FA.

According to Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are on the verge of signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

Romano claims Chelsea have agreed a deal with Dortmund for Gittens, who is set to undergo a medical on Saturday ahead of penning a seven-year contract.

Jacobs, meanwhile, reports Chelsea will pay around £55 million for Gittens, which includes add-ons.

The 20-year-old rose to prominence last season following his performances for Dortmund. He made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring 12 goals.

Chelsea agreeing a deal with Dortmund for the English starlet spells bad news for Man United as they look to offload Garnacho this summer.

The transfer of Gittens could see them abandon their pursuit of Garnacho.

The 20-year-old Argentine, who came through Man United's youth academy after joining from Atletico Madrid, has played 144 senior games for the club.

Last season, he scored 11 goals in 55 games.

His days at Man United seem to be numbered after Ruben Amorim delivered a brutal message to him in front of the squad.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Aston Villa are thought to be keen on signing Garnacho, who is also attracting interest from last season's Serie A winners Napoli.
