Angel Gomes has been linked with a shock return to the Premier League, six years after leaving.
Gomes, 25, came through the youth academy at Manchester United before making a total of just 10 appearances across all competitions for the first team.
Eventually, Gomes left United for French Ligue 1 side Lille on a free transfer and was immediately loaned to Portuguese side Boavista.
The Englishman went on to play 134 matches for Lille, scoring 10 goals and winning the Trophee des Champions in 2021.

In the summer of 2025, Gomes left Lille for fellow Ligue 1 side Marseille upon the expiration of his contract.
However, the 25-year-old has failed to nail down a regular spot in Roberto De Zerbi's starting XI, making 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring four and assisting once.
With the January transfer window nearing its end, it has been claimed that Gomes could make a return to the Premier League.
As reported by Sky Sports, Premier League strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Gomes.
Wolves are in huge danger, having only amassed eight points from 23 matches. Currently sitting 17 points away from safety, Rob Edwards' men are heavy favourites to go down to the Championship.

It has been claimed that Wolves are in talks with Marseille over 'a straight loan deal' for the midfielder.
According to the report, talks between the two clubs 'have been ongoing for some time'.
However, an agreement is yet to be reached, nor is it close.
What has Angel Gomes said about returning to the Premier League?
Speaking three years ago, Gomes stated that a return to English football is on his mind.
He said: "Do I imagine myself coming back one day? Obviously, it’s home. I would love to come back. But you never know in football.
"I just have to keep my feet on the ground, and keep playing, making the most of it. I can’t predict what will happen in the future."
