Roberto De Zerbi has left Marseille via mutual consent amid strong speculation he could return to the Premier League.
The former Brighton boss took the role in the summer of 2024 and led Marseille to second in Ligue One in his first season at the helm.
This time around Marseille are currently fourth in the table and 12 points off the table, while they were eliminated from the Champions League following a 3-0 defeat to Club Brugge.
A 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday proved to be his final game in charge, with all both parties deciding it is best to part ways at this stage of the season.
As per the BBC, Marseille issued a statement, writing: "Olympique de Marseille and Roberto De Zerbi, coach of the first team, have announced the end of their collaboration by mutual agreement.
"Following discussions between all stakeholders in the club's management - the owner, president, director of football, and coach - it was decided to make a change at the helm of the first team.
"This was a difficult collective decision, taken after careful consideration in the best interests of the club, in order to respond to the sporting challenges of the end of the season."
De Zerbi has been heavily linked with a second stint in English football and is the second favourite to be the next manager of Spurs.
Pressure piled on Thomas Frank once again after they lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle, leaving them 16th in the Premier League and just five points clear of the relegation zone.
De Zerbi was a candidate in 2023 to replace Antonio Conte before Spurs opted to appoint Ange Postecoglou.
