Ben Shelton will square off with Alexander Zverev in the final of the 2026 US Open, with the American aiming to win his first-ever Grand Slam.
The 23-year-old will be aiming to deny the German tennis star the chance to lift his second-ever Grand Slam, after Zverev lifted the French Open earlier this year.
Whoever lifts the 2026 US Open, be it Shelton or Zverev, will have secured the most lucrative prize pot ever in the history of tennis.

Ben Shelton’s US Open performances mean he has overtaken girlfriend Trinity Rodman's record-breaking salary
Trinity Rodman is the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, and she is a United States women’s national team member, having made 57 appearances for the team.
The female footballer is considered one of the best talents in the sport, currently playing for the Washington Spirit.
As she is considered such a great talent, it is no surprise that her club has tied her down with a lucrative contract.
The 24-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Washington Spirit worth $2 million annually, according to ESPN, making her the highest-paid player in National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) history and the highest-paid female player in the world.

However, Shelton has now overtaken her earnings by reaching the final of the US Open, as just by finishing runner-up, he will be awarded $2.8 million.
If the American tennis star were to lift the Grand Slam, then he would be entitled to a prize pot of $5.5 million, which will almost equal the money that Rodman earns across her entire three-year contract with Washington Spirit.
Trinity Rodman’s lucrative football career
The US national team star has long been touted to be one of the most exciting female talents in the sport.
At age 18, Rodman became the youngest player to be drafted in NWSL history when the Washington Spirit selected her as their first draft pick at the 2021 NWSL College Draft.
It would prove to be a great decision by the team, as she was named NWSL Rookie of the Year in that first campaign.
She would also earn the U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, forcing the hand of her club to sign her to a new deal. It was reported that the new contract was worth $1.1 million, making Rodman the highest-paid player in NWSL history at the time.
Across the next five seasons, she would continue to impress both at club and international levels, with this culminating in her making NWSL history once again by signing a contract worth $2 million in January 2026.
