There were literal limbs for Frank Lampard last night as he broke his hand in Everton's incredible goal celebrations.

The 10-man Toffees claimed a monumental late victory over Newcastle after Alex Iwobi scored in the 99th minute.

Everton saw midfielder Allan sent off following a VAR review for a wild and reckless tackle on substitute Allan Saint-Maximin and looked like they might have to settle for a draw.

But a protestor tying himself to the goalpost by his neck caused a lengthy delay and eventually brought 14 minutes of stoppage time.

And the hosts won it deep into added time, Iwobi combining with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and sending Goodison Park into raptures.

It was a massive goal for under-fire Lampard, who was celebrating and fist pumping so wildly that he genuinely broke his hand.

Lampard was seen checking his hand in the 106th minute and revealed the injury when speaking to Amazon Prime pitchside after the win.

"I've broken my hand by the way in the celebrations," he said, showing his heavily bruised hand to the camera.

'I'll take it for three points! It was in the celebrations for the goal. I didn't realise at the time, but as the game carried on it was a bit sore there.

"It's a bit shaky but it's fine. I don't care."

Prior to last night, Everton had lost three games in a row - their last victory coming against Leeds on 12 February.

On the huge three points, Lampard added: "It was an amazing night. It's important that we put perspective on it, because we need those nights and there's a long way to go.

"We must enjoy them and we must realise what got us that win. It was spirit, it was togetherness."

Everton are now three points clear of the relegation zone having played two games less than 18th-placed Watford.

They play Crystal Palace in the FA Cup quarter finals this weekend, before travelling to West Ham on 3 April.
