Fans can’t believe this South Sudan goalkeeper is only 18 years old

Fans are shocked to find out the goalkeeper’s age

An 18-year-old South Sudan goalkeeper has left fans shocked due to his mature appearance despite being a teenager.

Goodwill Yoosuk Simon Sabio has been causing a stir on social media after a picture of him was uploaded.

To date, Sabio has made five appearances for the South Sudan U20 national football team, who are currently playing at the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.

Domestically, Sabio plays for Kator FC in the South Sudan Premier League

After helping his country reach the quarter-finals, a picture of him was posted and fans were quick to question his age.

One fan said: “Dude is 46.”

Another tweeted: “Bro just retired and now everyone’s calling him an 18-year-old.”

A third fan added: “Bro's 4th grandson was born in 2004.”

Someone else wrote: “He’s been at his last job for 18 years alone.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “If he is 18 then I am 15 days old.”

Another person said: “He looks older than my Dad.”

Having conceded two goals in the three group-stage fixtures so far, he will be back in action against Gambia on Friday as he looks to play a part in his team getting through to the semi-finals.

Manager Peter James has expressed his delight over his team’s ability to qualify for the next round.

He said: “The Gambia is very strong with great players. We have 90 minutes to create an achievement, we want to give more pride to our country.

“We will play the match without pressure, without worrying about the result. We can surprise them but we have to be efficient.”

The winners of the tournament held in Egypt will automatically qualify for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.

Senegal and Nigeria are the current favourites to win the competition having easily made it through of the last four.
