Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min ready to move to 'bigger' club

Son has been at Spurs since 2015 but is yet to win a trophy despite being one of the best players in the world.

Son Heung-min could be eyeing a move away from Tottenham Hotspur, with a report in Germany claiming he's ready for the next step in his career.

Son joined Spurs in 2015 and has in the past few years become one of the best players in the world, despite the club's lack of trophies, which stretches back to 2008.

Last season, the forward showed just how good he is by finishing level with Mohamed Salah as the Premier League's top goalscorer, although Dejan Kulusevski nearly ruined it.

Those performances led him to finish 11th at the Ballon d'Or last week, mightily impressive for a player who won no trophies, with only Erling Haaland in 10th above him without a trophy.

With strike partner Harry Kane often linked with a move away from north London, Son's future generally remains unspoken about.

However, according to German outlet Sport 1 that might no longer be the case, with the player considering making the move away.

The report says that the forward is 'preparing' for the next steps in his career, having reached 30-years-old back in the summer.

It suggests that he is ready to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite the fact that his contract at Spurs runs until 2025 at the moment.

The report claims that the likes of Real Madrid and PSG are interested in the former Bayer Leverkusen player, and they're both better prospects to challenge for major trophies.

Spurs have become one of the established 'big six' in recent years, especially under Mauricio Pochettino, but they've only twice reached finals in recent years.

With the Champions League final in 2019, which they lost to Liverpool, and the Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City in 2021, when they sacked Jose Mourinho days before the game, their only chances of winning anything.

As with Kane, the South Korean could be thinking about how he is entering the latter part of his career and he'd like to have a legacy of silverware.

Kane did try to leave the club in summer 2021, with Manchester City desperate to sign the forward, but his long contract stopped him from being able to leave.

This season, Spurs were backed to be the team to be closest to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table.

However, their north London neighbours Arsenal have been the team competing with City, with Liverpool having hit by their own issues.

Antonio Conte's side have recently hit a rough patch of form, and lost to Newcastle United on the weekend, following Callum Wilson's 'controversial' goal.

The style of play that the Italian uses has also been criticised, with some claiming it's a bit too dull.
