Sidemen raise £1 million for charity in YouTuber All-Star match at The Valley

The match featured stars from the US as well as the UK, including IShowSpeed and MrBeast.

YouTube group the Sidemen successfully raised over £1 million for charity in their football match against the 'YouTube All-Stars' on Saturday (25 September).

The match saw KSI and his fellow Sidemen face off against the likes of Chunkz, IShowSpeed and Yung Philly, while one of the world's biggest creators - MrBeast - also featured.

The game, which took place at Charlton Athletic's Valley Stadium, finished 8-7 to the Sidemen after Simon Minter - aka Miniminter - scored an audacious lob in the final minutes.

However, the real winners of the day were the four chosen charities that the game was in aid of.

As The Mirror reports, the funds raised were split between four organisations, with 40 per cent going to CALM, 40 per cent to the Teenage Cancer Trust, and 10 per cent each going to Rays of Sunshine and M7 Education (Miniminter's non-profit).

It was an occasion not to be missed for any UK YouTube fans, and rather unsurprisingly, the event was played in front of a capacity crowd.

After the conclusion of the game, it was announced by host Munya Chawawa that over £1 million had been raised by viewers at home and in person, with all proceeds from the match going to the aforementioned charities.

Just as impressive was the sheer number of concurrent viewers the Sidemen's official steam of the game attracted on YouTube.

A peak audience of 2.5 million was recorded at one point during the match, making it one of the most viewed streams in YouTube history.

The Sidemen themselves have 16.7 million subscribers (at the time of writing) and regularly command over 10 million views on their 'Sidemen Sunday' uploads.

However, for Saturday's game, the collective number of subscribers, when tallying every person on the pitch, was well over one billion.

Around 100 million of those come from one man - MrBeast. On track to surpass PewDiePie as the biggest independent creator YouTube, the American wasn't quite able to impact the game in the same way as some of his peers.

The same cannot be said of streamer IShowSpeed, who stole the show with his hilarious - and often bizarre - antics.

Speed, as he is known to many, laid down the gauntlet almost immediately, by taking out KSI with a crunching tackle seconds into the game.

The American streamer, who has 11.3 million YouTube subscribers, also had a goal disallowed for offside in the second half, which led to his whipping referee Mark Clattenburg.
