Italian Media Make Bold Rasmus Hojlund Claim as Man Utd Loanee Scores for Napoli

Hojlund joined the Serie A side on loan in the summer transfer window

Rasmus Hojlund has made a scoring start on loan at Napoli and the Italian media have welcomed him back to Serie A with high praise.

Manchester United proved an unhappy sojourn for Hojlund, who scored nine times in 32 league appearances for Atalanta before heading for the Premier League.

The Red Devils allowed the striker to leave on loan after signing Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and the 22-year-old followed former United teammate Scott McTominay to the Diego Maradona in Naples.

McTominay helped Napoli win their fourth Scudetto last term, scoring regularly and being crowned the most valuable player in the Italian top flight. The sports media in Italy adore him and Hojlund's goalscoring Serie A debut for the Partenopei on Saturday has given the Danish striker a positive early footing with the press too.

Napoli brushed off Fiorentina in Saturday's away fixture, scoring twice in the first quarter of an hour.

Hojlund made it 2-0 in Florence by showing good movement, strength and a fine finish past David De Gea, and the sports dailies couldn't get enough.

"The star of the transfer window is, of course, Hojlund, who already showed last night how he can transform the attack with his speed, resourcefulness, and aggression," writes Pasquale Salvione of Corriere dello Sport.

"This mix will allow for new tactical setups to be explored from game to game."

Nominating Hojlund as the best acquisition of the summer is a flattering call.

The champions aren't short of new talent, having brought in Bologna centre-back Sam Beukema for big money and added goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and striker Lorenzo Lucca to their ranks on loan.

But with new signing Kevin De Bruyne already conducting Napoli's midfield, Hojlund being named as the star should be a big boost to his confidence.

'Sumptuous' Hojlund off to a flyer

"The immediate impact the Danish striker had was surprising," adds Salvione.

"Conte clearly understood this and threw him into the fray from the start. He was rewarded with a sumptuous performance: not just goals, but also plenty of movement, the usual desire to fight, and a flood of deep runs. With him up front, Napoli completely changed its face".
