Senior Man Utd stars send message to board to make signings after disastrous start

Cristiano Ronaldo was amongst a group of players who have sent an 'sos' to the board after losing the first two Premier League games.

Manchester United players have joined their fans in being frustrated with the lack of signings this summer and have told the board to do something about it.

United have had an absolutely disastrous start to the Premier League season, having lost to Brighton on the opening weekend and following it up with a hugely embarrassing 4-0 tonking by Brentford on Sunday.

That result left them bottom of the table, with zero points and a minus five goal difference, with their only goal of the campaign so far coming from an own goal.

Erik ten Hag has already been told to resign over failed promises, after being told that he would get at least five new signings this summer but has only been left with three to date.

United need at least a forward and a midfielder, especially after losing five players in the summer, but it remains to be seen if that happens.

Now, according to the Mirror, senior players including Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes have called on the board to make more transfers.

The report claims the message comes in the form of an 'SOS' as they attempt to turn things around before the September 1st deadline for transfers.

United and Ten Hag have clearly been delayed in their summer dealings by the fact they targeted Frenkie de Jong before last season finished but have still not been able to sign him from Barcelona.

However, attempts to sign another midfielder, as well as Christian Eriksen's arrival, have now been going on with unwanted Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot expected to join.

That deal is now attracting criticism from fans though, with youngster James Garner reportedly having to leave the club in order to sign the Frenchman.

Garner impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest last season and the fact he's not been given a chance at Old Trafford and that he'll only cost any prospective buyer just £14 million has not gone down well with fans.

The club have also been linked with strikers Alvaro Morata and Marko Arnautovic recently, with the negative reaction to the latter, due to his past, being part of the reason the club pulled out of a move for him.

As well as the move for De Jong, the 13 time Premier League winners also want to add Sergino Dest from Barcelona, and could even offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the Spanish giants.

Whether the board listen to the players remains to be seen, they have so far not listened to the fans protesting and they plan on doing it again next Monday, when Liverpool are the visitors to Old Trafford.
