Jhon Duran is already proving his worth after he scored one of the best solo goals of the season during Thursday's eventful Saudi Pro League clash between Al Nassr and Al Ahli.

With three days remaining of the January window, Duran penned a lucrative five-and-half-year contract with Al Nassr.

The 21-year-old, who has been handed an eye-watering salary of £16.7 million per year at Al-Awwal Park, will play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Aymeric Laporte and Sadio Mane in the coming weeks.

Shortly after completing a £64 million transfer to the Riyadh-based club, the Colombian netted a brace on his league debut against Al Feiha.

So far, Duran has produced the goods for Stefano Pioli's side, leading the line alongside five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo, who seems to be enjoying playing next to the former Chicago Fire striker.

And on Thursday night, he showcased his talent again by scoring two more goals in their dramatic 3-2 victory over Al Ahli.

After netting the opener in the 32nd minute – a goal that brought applause from Al Nassr teammate Ronaldo – Duran went on to score a quite outrageous solo goal in the 88th minute to give his side a 3-1 lead.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the goal.

One said: "Kills me how people were saying Duran is going to come back to Europe washed. He’s the best under-21 striker in the world and one of the best strikers in Europe."

A second wrote: "Jhon Duran is too good, man. Sometimes, it doesn't seem real. Nothing he can't do. I wouldn't even mind getting him 2 years later if he decides to come back to Europe."

A third commented: "Sorry, but I've seen a better defence in Sunday League," and a fourth said: "A goal that will be talked about for years. Jhon Duran has arrived."

A fifth added: "Duran is the best forward Cristiano played with in last 6-7 years. It's crazy man. Crazy crazy baller."

Earlier this month, Duran said it "feels like I’m playing FIFA career mode" after he celebrated scoring on his league debut with Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I'm really happy about the move," the former Aston Villa man said. "People in general and the media speculate about a lot of things. I think of only my family, my agent and me."

"I know why we make the decisions that we make," Duran added. "My family are especially important in these decisions. I don't think it's a backwards step for me. I'm moving to a competitive league and there are many stars here.

"There are many people who have a different idea about the league, but in general these people are thinking things that aren't right.

"As for people who are saying this is a backwards step, I'll prove myself on the pitch. On the pitch is where I'll do my talking. Often a lot is said off the pitch but it's another matter on it."
