'Sack Potter' is trending on Twitter, Chelsea fans have had enough already

'Sack Potter' is trending on Twitter, Chelsea fans have had enough already

Twitter has erupted against Graham Potter and Chelsea following their fourth defeat in five games under the new manager.

Fans on social media have reacted fiercely to Graham Potter following 1-0 loss to Newcastle at St James' Park.

The Blues lost out to a second-half Joe Willock strike that sees them enter the break for the World Cup in eighth place.

The defeat also makes four defeats in five games, and three straight defeats in the Premier League.

In typical Chelsea fashion, fans are already banding together on social media with 'Sack Potter' trending with over 5,000 tweets within an hour of the game ending.

Football Twitter has come together in its masses to discuss the defeat, with many extremely negative takes against Potter.

One rival fan mocked Chelsea: 'If you are having a bad day just remember Chelsea sack Thomas tuchel just to replace him with graham potter'

Whilst another went for a Drake and 21 Savage inspired insult: '21, can you sack Potter for me'

Famed commentator Peter Drury went viral with his in-game comments: 'Graham Potter’s Chelsea is playing a new kind of "Pressing" football called "Depressing"'

It has to be said that Potter has had to contend with injuries to key players throughout his time so far at the London club.

To be fair to Chelsea, they are missing N'Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling and Kepa Arrizabalaga - its clear that all of those would be part of Chelsea's strongest line-up if they were fit, which leaves Potter struggling as another weak starting line-up was announced today.

Newcastle do also remain unbeaten at home, and have only been defeated once this season, courtesy of a 98th minute Fabio Carvalho winner at Anfield - they are one of the toughest teams to beat in the league right now.

Potter was announced as Chelsea's new head coach on a five-year deal on September 9th, but fast forward two months and their fortunes haven't improved from when Thomas Tuchel was sacked.

Chelsea's start under Potter was positive; they managed six wins and three draws before they lost 4-1 to the manager's former team.

A win against Dinamo Zagreb followed, which secured Chelsea's qualification as group winners in the Champions League - a win that saw them draw Borussia Dortmund in the knockout stages.

But three losses in a row to Arsenal, Manchester City in the EFL Cup and Newcastle has left a bad taste in Chelsea fan's mouths, as they failed to finish with a positive result before the break.

Given he was promised time, and backed with a five-year deal, it seems Todd Boehly is setting up to go against the grade of sacking managers in quick Roman Abramovich esque fashion, but with Chelsea, you never know.
