Ryan Reynolds keeps Notts County promise after they secure play-off final place

Ryan Reynolds keeps Notts County promise after they secure play-off final place

Reynolds has been very supportive of Wrexham's National League rivals Notts County, and continued it on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Reynolds is clearly keeping to his promise to Wrexham's rivals Notts County, after their dramatic semi-final play-off win against Boreham Wood.

If things had just been a little different then it could have been County who were National League champions and grabbed the only automatic promotion place into the Football League.

Ben Foster's last minute penalty save in the game between Wrexham and their closest rivals certainly made a difference in the title race, at a very important point of the season.

And the Magpies ended the regular season with 107 points, which would have been enough for the title in every other season than this one.

It left Reynolds to reveal that he hated that there was only one automatic promotion place into League Two, calling for that to change in the future.

The Red Dragons' co-owner has been full of praise for Luke Williams' side throughout, something they were very receptive towards.

The Deadpool actor even promised to support them through the play-offs, as they headed straight into the semi-finals, something it appears he stuck to.

On Sunday, County were involved in an extremely dramatic match with Boreham Wood, eventually coming out on top, and Reynolds retweeted the video of their success.

Reynolds posted the video of the winner on social media.

Last season, the Nottingham based side had been dropped out of the play-offs at the quarter final stage, and they were determined to make it to Wembley.

However, they were dealt a huge double blow before half-time, as they found themselves 2-0 down to Boreham Wood, who had also taken the lead against Wrexham in the title deciding match.

The hosts pulled one back but then had a penalty saved, which looked like it would mean a heartbreaking loss for them in the semis.

However, Aden Baldwin equalised, with his second goal of the game, with the last chance of the 90 minutes, very deep into injury time.

That took the game to extra time, and then it looked liked it would be decided by penalties, with neither side able to break the deadlock in the additional 30 minutes.

But, once again, very late, County were able to grab a dramatic goal, with Jodi Jones hitting a strike from the edge of the area, to cause pandemonium in the stands, which spilled onto the pitch at full time.

They now face Chesterfield at Wembley in six days time, with the winner going into League Two next season, alongside Wrexham.
