'You son of a b***h!' - Ryan Reynolds and Ben Foster embrace in emotionally charged interaction after crucial penalty save for Wrexham

Ryan Reynolds admitted to Ben Foster he “couldn’t watch” the nail-biting penalty in Wrexham’s top-of-the-table clash against Notts County.

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds shared a heartfelt exchange with Ben Foster after the player’s heroics in their thrilling 3-2 win over Notts County on Monday.

John Bostock fired Notts County into a first-half lead at the Racecourse Ground before Paul Mullin pulled Wrexham back into the contest five minutes after the break.

Jacob Mendy then put Wrexham into a second-half lead in the 69th minute, only for Kyle Cameron to pull Notts County level in the sensational National League clash.

Elliot Lee scored in the 78th minute to fire Wrexham back into the lead, with Foster stepping up in the crucial stage of the match after Notts County were awarded a penalty.

Foster, who made a sensational U-turn on his retirement to sign for Wrexham last month, denied Cedwyn Scott from the spot-kick to seal an emphatic win.

Wrexham are three points clear at the top of the National League table and have a match in hand over Notts County, with the Welsh side edging closer to securing the automatic promotion place.

Reynolds, who took over Wrexham in 2021 with fellow actor Rob McElhenney, embraced Foster after the match with a massive hug during an emotional exchange.

BT Sport shared the behind-the-scenes interaction between Reynolds and Foster on social media, and posted below is how the pair’s exchange went in the footage.

Foster: “It doesn’t get better than that, does it?”

Reynolds: “You son of a b***h! What was that about? You’re too old for that!”

Foster: “I got cramp when I got up, my calf… I was thinking, ‘Don’t do this…’”

Reynolds: “I have so much arthritis medicine up in my bag, I’m not even kidding.”

Foster: “I’ll be alright.”

Reynolds: “What the f**k? That was just bananas.”

Foster: “You can’t write that…”

Reynolds: “That’s the most dramatic thing I’ve ever seen in my time [at Wrexham].”

Foster: “I’ve got to do the media, do BT, all of that stuff. I’m still laughing to myself… I’ve never felt that before…”

Reynolds: “I couldn’t watch, I turned just in time to watch you [save]. Oh my God, you sent ’em all home, you did!”

Foster: “What a game, what a f*****g game. I hope you lot buzzed off that upstairs because I was buzzing off it playing it.”

Reynolds: “I will never be the same again.”

Foster: “People will be watching this on BT, people will be watching this around the world and they must be thinking, ‘What a team this is, by the way.’ Two teams in non-league.”

Reynolds: “Notts’ game, they are amazing… I just can’t, I’m never going to be the same again. Thank you for that.”
