Real Madrid Fans Leaving The Bernabeu Before Historic Man City Comeback Regretted It Massively

NEVER write off Real Madrid.

Footage of Real Madrid fans leaving the Santiago Bernabeu before their stunning comeback vs Manchester City has emerged. Check it out below.

Riyad Mahrez put City ahead in the 73rd minute to give them a 1-0 lead on the night and a 5-3 advantage on aggregate. Madrid hadn't had a shot on target at that point and supporters inside the ground decided to make their exit.

It ended up being one of the biggest mistakes ever. Rodrygo scored twice in injury time to make it 5-5 on aggregate and take the game to extra time.

Thousands had already made their way into the concourses and after hearing 'Hala Madrid y nada más' boom out twice in two minutes, they tried to get back into the stadium to no avail.

Some opted to stay outside and watch the remaining action on their phones. Never, ever write Carlo Ancelotti's men off.

There will have been a few there without a ticket, but BT Sport mentioned many made their way out after Mahrez's goal.

One fan commented: "If the Champions League has ever taught anyone anything, it's you never leave early."

Another said: "They'll always have the memories of how they beat the traffic, though."

A third put: "WHO ON EARTH WOULD DO THIS?"

While someone tweeted: "That's what you get for not believing in your team until the final whistle."

Karim Benzema scored a decisive penalty in the first half of extra time after being fouled by Ruben Dias.

The France international stepped up to send Ederson the wrong way, make it 6-5 on aggregate and pencil Madrid in for a huge clash with Liverpool later this month.

"I can't say we're used to living this kind of night. It happened for us what happened against Chelsea and against PSG. It's really difficult to say why," Ancelotti said post-match per Manchester Evening News.

"This is the biggest history of this club that helps us to kick on when it seems we are gone. It's true, the game was close to finishing, we were unable to find the last energy we had.

"We played a good game against a strong rival. After that we equalised, of course we were better psychologically in extra time.

"I have no time to think about this [that the game was lost], it was difficult in this period when City had good control of the game. The last opportunity we were able to go to extra time."
