The Premier League's biggest-ever transfers have been calculated with inflation and it tells a very interesting story.

The transfer market has exploded in recent seasons, with the price of players skyrocketing across the board due to external factors.

Back in 2017, the transfer record more than doubled with Neymar's £198.8 million move from Barcelona to PSG smashing the previous record of £89 million held by Paul Pogba's move the previous summer.

This drastic change in market value has resulted in more and more transfer fees of over £100m, as well as the more standard practice of major names leaving as free agents.

The Premier League has been significantly affected, with 11 of the top 13 transfers in the division's history coming in the last five years, putting many young stars under immense pressure to live up to their price tag.

However, Valuball have created a system that puts every signing into perspective with every transfer fee in Premier League history being calculated in line with inflation.

This puts Alan Shearer's £15 million move from Blackburn Rovers to Newcastle as the highest transfer fee in English history at £225 million in today's market.

There are a few players in Valuball's top 20 list that will turn some heads, as Andrey Kanchelskis' move to Everton coming in at £126 million putting him 18th in the list.

Wayne Rooney's £25 million move to United clocked in at £141 million, which would be an eye-wattering fee for an 18-year-old in today's market.
