Rob Edwards has set his sights on raiding Wrexham for a star player as a shock role has been lined up following his appointment at Wolves.
Edwards has joined Wolves on a three-and-a-half-year deal, having left Championship side Middlesbrough.
He has been in talks with Wolves since Saturday after he was stood down from Boro's fixture against Birmingham City and was given permission to speak to the Premier League club.
A compensation package of around £3 million has been agreed.

Edwards, who played 111 times for Wolves during his playing days, will be tasked with steering them to safety as they currently occupy the foot of the table, with just two points on the board.
Wolves have yet to win a game in their opening 11 league matches, losing 3-0 to Chelsea in their last outing.

According to The Telegraph, Edwards is expected to appoint the vastly experienced coach Paul Trollope, who is currently at Southampton, to his backroom staff.
Wrexham defender Conor Coady has also been mooted.
The report claims Edwards wants to hire Coady as a coach following their spell together at Wolves.
Coady played for Wolves when Edwards was coaching the club's academy team.
However, sources close to the report claims it is 'highly unlikely' that it will happen.

Coady, 32, is still highly respected at Wolves, having spent seven seasons at the club.
He made 317 appearances and helped the Midlands outfit secure promotion from the Championship to the Premier League in the 2017/2018 campaign.
Coady signed for Wrexham from Leicester City in a deal worth £2 million last summer.
He has played six games across all competitions this season, including five league appearances.
Whether the former England international becomes a coach once his career is done remains to be seen given he has done punditry work for Sky Sports.
Edwards, meanwhile, has drafted in Harry Watling, who worked alongside him at Boro, and more new faces are expected to arrive soon.
