Opta have predicted the final Premier League table and it makes good reading for Manchester City fans.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been projected to claim their fifth consecutive Premier League title in succession, finishing on 91 points.

Meanwhile, with Mikel Arteta’s perpetual bridesmaids, Arsenal are projected to finish in second, some ten points behind the leaders.

Liverpool are predicted to take third spot on 77 points, which would be a respectable showing in Arne Slot’s first season at the helm.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are set to make a return to the Champions League, claiming fourth spot ahead of Aston Villa in fifth.

Newcastle and Tottenham are projected to finish sixth and seventh respectively, while United are eighth on Opta’s table, a campaign that would likely cost Erik ten Hag his job.

Indeed, last term it appeared the Dutchman only clung onto his post upon winning the FA Cup, after a season where United failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The relegation places are occupied by the three promoted sides, with Ipswich and Leicester finishing ahead of Southampton.

Meanwhile, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in 16th and 17th respectively on 36 points, missing out on the drop but just two points.

Brighton, Fulham, Brentford, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest occupy the places from 9th to 15th.

Arsenal fans were quick to comment on the projected table.

One wrote on X, formally Twitter: “Has anyone told Opta that Rodri’s season is over?”

A second said: “We literally have the same expected points as City from the start as last season. Where does the 10 point gap come from?”

A third said: “I think Arsenal will win this season.”

A fourth added: “Arsenal are going to win the Premier League this season. Screenshot this.”
