Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly obsessed with one player who is attracting interest from across Europe.

The Gunners have started the 2024/25 Premier League season off almost perfectly, taking 11 points out of a possible 15, including claiming a crucial draw against champions Manchester City despite being reduced to 10 men.

Should they continue this form, they will likely challenged for the title for the third successive season, having narrowly missed out to City both last year and in 2022/23.

And Arteta reportedly believes he has found the one player who would finally help the Gunners cross the finish line and get their first Premier League title in 20 years.

According to TBR Football, the Spanish manager is a massive admirer of Florian Wirtz, with Arsenal said to be monitoring his situation with current club Beyer Leverkusen.

The German midfielder was a central part of Leverkusen's incredible season in 2023/24, which saw them claim the Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal cup while finishing as runners-up in the Europa League.

Despite this, it is believed that he, alongside manager Xabi Alonso, will likely leave the club next summer, and Arsenal are frontrunners to secure Wirtz's signature.

Christian Falk, head of football for German outlet BILD, later confirmed the news on X, writing that Wirtz is hoping to leave the Bundesliga club in 2025 and that the London club are interested.

But as his contract with the German champions will not expire until 2027, they will certainly demand a massive fee if they are going to sell Wirtz next summer.

TBR Football report that Leverkusen are expected to demand around £125million for the midfielder, while Falk suggest that the club want a fee of €150m.

However, Arsenal are not the only club reportedly interested in signing the 21-year-old, as European titans Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City are all also interested in Wirtz.

It comes as no surprise that several of the biggest clubs are interested in signing the German as he has started the 2024/2025 season on fire.

Across the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, Wirtz has started five matches, scoring an incredible six goals and assisting one in this time.
