Manchester United are top of the league - when it comes to being the dirtiest team in the division.

The Red Devils are yet to be shown a red card in the Premier League this season, with their only dismissal being Casemiro in a 3-2 Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.

They had two red cards last season, both of which were handed out to Casemiro.

But in the last five seasons, United have been named the dirtiest side in a new study.

Punters.pub have crunched all data and found that United have the worst record, having had a league-high 386 yellow cards and nine red cards - the joint-worst of all 12 sides who have been ever-present.

In the study, yellow cards are worth one point and reds count for two points.

United' accumulated an overall average discipline score of 2.04 to lead the unwanted chart, with Everton following closely behind with 2.03.

Although Everton had less yellow cards, their tally of 17 red cards was the joint-highest.

Spurs averaged out a score of 2.02, with Wolves completing the top four on 1.98.

Arsenal, with 17 reds to their name, occupy fifth spot on 1.90. Newcastle are sixth with 1.88 and Chelsea find themselves ninth on the list with an 1.75 score generated from 330 yellows and eight reds.

A punters.pub spokesperson commented: “While accusations fly between fans of rival teams around the world, it’s interesting to see the data and establish which teams can actually be considered ‘the dirtiest’ in each league.

“It’s also certainly interesting for those who might wage money in disciplinary categories of betting like cards received per game.”

Top 10 in full:

1.Manchester United - 386 yellows - nine reds - 2.04 average discipline score

2.Everton - 367 yellows - 17 reds - 2.03 average discipline score
