Barbie star Margot Robbie has "pledged her allegiance" to a surprise Premier League team.

The Australian is said to support the New Orleans Saints in NFL and also has a fondness for hockey side New York Rangers.

But when it comes to football, the 33-year-old has affection for Fulham through her film producer husband Tom Ackerley.

The 33-year-old hails from Surrey and met Robbie on the set of Suite Française when he was assistant director and they tied the knot in December 2016.

The couple are said to reside in Los Angeles but Ackley is a staunch Cottagers fan and that has passed on to Robbie, who disclosed her fandom while promoting, 'I, Tonya'.

“I actually haven’t been to another Fulham game for a while, but I know they’re playing tomorrow against Aston Villa,” Margot told the BBC ahead of the Championship clash.

“And it’s my two best friends – well, it’s my husband and my other best friend Josie. Aston Villa’s Josie’s team, Fulham’s Tom’s team, so they’re going to the game and it’s tense already. I’m on the edge of my seat to see who wins.

Asked who she would be supporting, Robbie replied: “I mean, I’ve pledged my allegiance to Fulham, so I want Fulham to win.”

Robbie was even in attendance at Craven Cottage back in August 2014 for a 1-0 defeat to Millwall, with the club tweeting about her appearance.

They posted: "Nice to see @MargotRobbie at the Cottage on Saturday, see you again soon! #FFC."

Fulham enjoyed a fine season in the top flight last season, finishing tenth in the Premier League on 52 points from 38 games.

Manager Marco Silva has been a man in demand but has reportedly rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

The west London outfit begin their new campaign away at Everton on 12 August.
