How full Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal's grounds were in 2023/24 as new report confirms top European attendances

A new report revealed data from all of the best-attended sides in Europe.

A new report has detailed which football clubs in Europe had the highest average attendance for the 2023/24 season.

The European Club Talent and Competition Landscape report, published earlier this week, detailed how many spectators attended games in some of Europe's top leagues.

Teams from England, Spain, Italy and Germany were all included, with one side from the Premier League finishing top of the standings for overall spectators.

In total, 16 European clubs had total home league attendances of more than one million for the season, including West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.

According to the detailed findings provided by UEFA, Manchester United had the highest aggregate attendance in domestic league football last season.

This is despite Erik ten Hag's side finishing 8th, their lowest-ever Premier League finish in the club's history.

Manchester United recorded a total attendance of 1,397,148, with Old Trafford 96% full on average during their Premier League home matches.

Borussia Dortmund had the highest average attendance in home league matches, with 81,305 per Bundesliga match.

In all competitions, Dortmund had the highest total attendance of 1,951,745, but this was mainly down to their success in the UEFA Champions League.

With a total of 1,834,291 home attendances throughout all competitions, United came third, just behind AC Milan, who had 1,860,964 home attendance.

Liverpool's figure, in comparison, stood at 1,010,540 for Premier League attendances. Arsenal's home games were a little higher, ranking them in 11th place across Europe with 1,143,535.

Fellow top-four rivals Manchester City saw a respectable 1,011,732 attendees and Tottenham were the second-highest English team with 1,170,118.

For total attendance, the Premier League was the best league for supporters with a staggering 14.7 million people going to games in total.

England's second tier, the Championship, was the seventh-best attended league in Europe during the 2023-24 season.

Averaging 23,000, teams including Leeds United, Southampton, Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday will have helped figures dramatically.

Figures for the women's game also made for interesting viewing, with attendances in top flights across Europe rising to over 2.6 million people.

That figure represented a rise of 38% from the previous season, with leagues including the WSL, Liga F and the Frauen-Bundesliga all continuing to welcome a new wave of attention each year.

English teams continue to lead the way in the WSL, with Arsenal's total home league attendance for the season of 329,986 more than 200,000 clear of every other European club.
